In the USA, those who handle domestic cargo on the road are registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration of the US Department of Transportation. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration plays a similar role to the entities mentioned above. These registered freight forwarders act as carriers and accept shipments of goods for transportation. They remain responsible for the delivery of the goods and transport them under their own bills of lading.

International sea freight forwarder arrange for the movement of cargo to and from the United States. These freight forwarders are registered with the Federal Maritime Commission as "Ocean Transportation Intermediaries". The two classification options for transportation intermediaries are ocean freight forwarders and NVOCCs.

Ocean freight forwarder: An entity that dispatches cargo through common carriers within the United States. They book or arrange space for these shipments on behalf of the shipper.

Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC): These are common carriers that openly serve to perform ocean transportation services. NVOCCs issue their own bills of lading or equivalent documents. However, they do not operate or own the vessel that transports the goods.

FCL AND LCL SHIPPING – WHICH IS BETTER?

Essentially, there are two different options for transporting cargo in a container.

FCL (Full Container Load) gives you the option to transport your cargo in a container provided specifically for your cargo. This option is suitable for high freight volumes or sensitive or valuable loads.

LCL (Less Than Container Load) is like a combined container. Your shipment shares the capacity of the container with other shipments. This means you use the exact amount of space your cargo actually needs. We are happy to help you choose the right delivery method.

FCL is suitable for larger volumes. Containers are loaded at the consignor and unloaded at the consignee. Depending on the trade, our customers can choose between different services and thus select the next possible, cheapest or fastest way of transportation.

Consolidation is economical, especially for smaller shipments. Here we have the option to combine shipments for different customers and to spread the freight costs among several customers. The cargo is brought to a warehouse where the container is made seaworthy and loaded, and then the cargo is shipped. The containers are unloaded at the port of destination and the individual shipments are delivered to their destinations. For certain transactions, we offer a LCL express option.

For example, if a customer has an urgent shipment from Shanghai to New York, the shipment will be shipped by sea to Long Beach, LA and then trucked to New York. This significantly reduces transit time compared to pure ocean freight. These faster options are also much cheaper than air freight shipments. We offer these services for Asia-US trade routes (from 27 ports).

What is the best way to ship from China to USA?

While this is a good question, there is no universal "best way" to ship from China. You should carefully consider the following variables.

· Product and load - what is being shipped and how large is it?
· Destination - is it going to a small office or warehouse?
· Time requirements - do you need it in the same week, or can it wait? This is a critical consideration, especially during the Chinese holiday season.

Products and loads: Some goods, such as aerosol cans and strong magnets, are difficult to ship by air. Other products, such as lithium-ion batteries, can be shipped by air, but suppliers often have difficulty providing the required documentation and can only ship via specialized aircraft. Because of this, it is often easier to ship batteries by sea through China.

Some products may be too heavy or too large to be shipped by air and can only be shipped by sea or rail.

In some cases, it may be better to ship the product by air. Products less than 1 cubic meter in size are usually ideal for air freight. High value cargo is sometimes safer to ship by air, and is sometimes required by China Cargo insurance companies.

Destination: Most reputable China freight forwarder offer end-to-end shipping services that can deliver to warehouses, small commercial buildings and residential areas. However, it is sometimes difficult to deliver containers to locations that are not equipped to unload them. Because of this, the final destination and how the cargo will be unloaded should be considered to determine the most ideal transportation plan.

In some cases, buyers may find it easier to ship smaller size shipments via China Air, while others may benefit from unloading services once the shipment arrives at a U.S. port.

Time requirements: If cargo is needed urgently, there is no faster way than air freight.

For some containerized shipments by sea, transit time can be reduced by shipping to the West Coast rather than the East Coast, and then completing the shipment by truck or rail once it arrives in the United States.

If time is not a priority, shipping by sea to a popular port close to the final destination and trucking at the last stop of the journey is likely the cheapest option.
