Members of the Premier Alliance—ONE, HMM, and Yang Ming Marine Transport—recently issued an announcement to adjust some of their jointly operated routes to meet customer demands, introducing the new MD2 and GS2 routes.

PREMIER ALLIANCE SERVICE UPDATE

According to the announcement, the Premier Alliance will split the existing MS2 route into two parts: the Asia-Mediterranean segment will operate independently and be renamed the MD2 route, while the trans-Pacific segment will be integrated with the AG1 route to form the new GS2 route.

The MD2 route will cover countries in the western Mediterranean region, including Spain, Italy, France, and Morocco, in the westbound direction. It will also facilitate cargo transshipment to North Africa via the Port of Tangier. In the eastbound direction, it will improve transportation efficiency from the Mediterranean to Busan and Central China, and provide services to Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam and Thailand via Singapore.

The inaugural ship for the MD2 route is the "Hyundai Neptune," expected to arrive at Busan Port on September 7. The port rotation is: Busan - Shanghai - Ningbo - Kaohsiung - Shekou - Singapore - (Colombo/Hambantota) - Tangier - Valencia - Barcelona - Genoa - Fos - (Colombo/Hambantota) - Singapore - Busan.

Additionally, the Asia-North America segment of the GS2 route will provide comprehensive port coverage between the Far East, Southeast Asia, and the U.S. West Coast, with new direct services from the U.S. West Coast to Northern China.
