MSC assures its clients that the ships it operates always comply with regulatory requirements and minimize environmental impact.
Mediterranean Shipping (MSC) has invested in a shipping information data provider called Green Maré Services (GMS) in an effort to continue to drive sustainability initiatives.
At the same time, MSC also decided to use Ship Review, a ship review platform jointly developed by GMS and German investment analysis firm Scope Group.
According to reports, Ship Review can perform environmental and sustainability assessments on more than 70,000 ships, and it is also the first product in the industry to display a carbon intensity indicator rating.
Regarding the investment, Diego Aponte, President of MSC, said: “In addition to making significant investments in low-carbon technologies and fuels, MSC continues to focus on improving energy efficiency. Through the Ship Review platform, we are able to better understand and assess the environment of ships. Performance."
He further stated that MSC assures its customers that the ships it operates are always in compliance with regulatory requirements and have a minimal impact on the environment. At the same time, customers and other stakeholders are encouraged to join the program.
Milton Gouveia, Managing Director of GMS, said: “We are delighted that MSC will take a minority stake in our company and support Ship Review in providing environmental data for our fleet. Working with MSC will help us validate the platform’s forecast data while improving Data reliability."
MSC has been very concerned about decarbonizing the industry. According to Diego Aponte, MSC also supports the Global Decarbonization Fund initiative advocated by the International Chamber of Shipping. The fund, through the International Maritime Organization, funds decarbonization research and development.
