Hapag-Lloyd Imposes New Surcharge: $400 Per Container!

Recently, Hapag-Lloyd announced a new surcharge notice. A Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) will be imposed on cargo shipped from Asia and Oceania to the Port of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
This surcharge will take effect on January 1, 2026 (shipping date) until further notice.

Surcharge Amount
$400 per Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU), applicable to all container types.

Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macau (China), Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan (China), Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, Micronesia, New Caledonia, New Zealand, French Polynesia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna.
