U.S. East Coast (states starting with zip codes 0, 1, 2, and 3). The main area of Eastern America is located on the east coast of the United States, also known as the Atlantic Seaboard. It is an area with developed economy and concentrated population in the United States, with developed transportation. There are significantly more railways and roads than the West Coast, especially the Northeast region with New York as the core, which is the most populous region in the United States; the largest city New York, the political center of the United States, Washington, the World Financial Center, and the United Nations Headquarters are all located here. There are many top schools, and it also has New York Harbor, one of the busiest ports in North America. The following STU Supply Chain will introduce you to U.S. East Coast ports and Amazon FBA warehouse Locations for you.
The Port of New York is one of the busiest ports in North America, with a vast hinterland of road, rail, inland waterway and air transportation networks that have established its position as a major global shipping and transportation hub and North American transportation center. Unlike LA/LB, which is under the jurisdiction of different port authorities, NY/NJ is under the joint jurisdiction of one port authority.
There are 5 major container terminals in NY/NJ port: PNCT (mainly used by MSC); Maher (the largest terminal in the port area, used by many ship owners: CMA CGM/ONE/COSCO/Hapag Lloyd/ZIM, etc.), APM Terminals Elizabeth (Maersk's terminal, mainly used by 2M), GCT Bayonne and GCT New York (mainly used by Wan Hai and MSC).
The first 4 terminals are in New Jersey, GCT New York is in Staten Island, which belongs to New York State. The government will spend a huge amount of money to raise the bridge to about 20 meters in 6 years, so that large ships of 14,000 TEU can call the 4 terminals on the other side of the bridge (PNCT, Maher, APM, GCT New York).
PNCT is the only terminal in the NY/NJ port area that has a dedicated on dock rail connection to the Midwest, which is known as the RIPI model.
APM Elizabeth terminal does not have on dock rail, but they use the next dock rail ramp (Millennium Marine Rail) to connect to the network of the 3 major railroads CSX, NS and CN.
There is one big difference between NY/NJ port area and LA/LB: the bridge toll. Specifically, bridge tolls are required to enter Staten Island, mainly through these bridges: Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge, Outerbridge Crossing. Bridge tolls.
