3. CV(Container Yard) Closing / CY(Customs Release Voucher) Closing

CV cut off is the time when the terminal closes to receive a container.
(also refers to the latest time to return the container after loading)

It means that after this time, the Carrier will no longer arrange to return the container on the voyage after this time.

That is, the container can not be delivered to the terminal. And it can't be loaded on the ship.

CY cut off is the latest time for the carrier to accept the release voucher from customers

(The latest is usually within six hours after the CV closing, which is the buffer time).

The cargo must be declared and released before this time to submit the customs release voucher to the carrier.

After this time, the carrier will not accept the customs release voucher for the cargo of the voyage.

The cargo will not be able to go on the voyage.

1)Customs release voucher is a release voucher given by customs after release.

If the customs release voucher is submitted after this time, the carriers will regard the cargo as not cleared by customs and the cargo will not be allowed to board the ship.

At this time, even if the container has been returned to the pier the cargo can only be delayed until the end of the ship.

Of course, this will incur considerable costs, including change order fee, yard warehouse rent and document fee.

2)If customs clearance is cut off on the same day the goods declared on the same day, the customs inspection rate is very high generally.

Experienced freight forwarders the will advise the shipper to delayed to the next ship to declare customs.

Otherwise, there will be container inspection fees, change the name of the ship fees, cabin rent container rent costs.

3)If you can't catch the CY cut time.

You can also apply for CY Late Come to carriers in advance.

Carriers may allow the container to be delivered a few hours later.

But sometimes Carriers is not agreed to extend the time to the shipper.
