The new Wenzhou-Middle East maritime route has been officially launched, adding a golden logistics corridor for Chinese new energy vehicles (NEVs) to enter the international market.
On September 15, the Panama-flagged ro-ro ship "Forest Glory"—measuring 140.18 meters in length and 33,997 gross tons—set sail from Zhuangyuan'ao Port Area of Wenzhou Port to Dubai, carrying 400 BYD NEVs.
The departure of the ship not only marks the official opening of the new Wenzhou-Middle East maritime route but also represents the first ro-ro route for the export of whole NEVs launched at Wenzhou Port since its establishment. It has added a golden logistics corridor for Chinese NEVs to go global.
As introduced, the "Forest Glory" has 8 decks with a total capacity of 3,100 vehicle units. It is equipped with dedicated vehicle parking spaces and securing devices. After connecting to the dock berth via a shipboard ramp, vehicles can drive directly onto the ship without the need for hoisting and loading equipment. Compared with containerized export, it has a significant advantage in port loading and unloading efficiency.
Departing from Wenzhou Port, the ship will call at Nansha Port before heading to the destination port of Dubai, with a total voyage time of approximately 23 days.
It is reported that the opening of the new route will further expand the outbound logistics channels for automotive chain products in southern Zhejiang and northern Fujian. It will also provide strong support for Wenzhou Port to expand port opening-up, improve its foreign trade route network, and build itself into the "Golden South Wing" of a world-class strong port.
