Amid the summer heat, whether it's specialty seafood from Yanji or frozen golden threadfish surimi from Vietnam, COSCO SHIPPING Ports has achieved innovative breakthroughs in cold chain transportation, ensuring the fresh delivery of seafood. This not only meets consumers' pursuit of delicious flavors but also injects new vitality into regional economies.
Launching the "Yanji-Dalian" Refrigerated Freight Train Service
Recently, a freight train fully loaded with local specialty seafood departed from Yanji Station bound for Dalian. This is another significant initiative by COSCO SHIPPING Ports' Dalian Container Shipping Company to support economic development in Northeast China, providing strong momentum for industrial upgrading and trade facilitation in the Jilin region.
As a key logistics link connecting Yanji and Dalian, Dalian Container Shipping’s Changchun Company focused on addressing regional cold chain transportation challenges. A dedicated marketing team was formed to conduct on-the-ground research, investigating regional cold chain needs and visiting local seafood processing enterprises and agricultural cooperatives to gather detailed information on cargo volumes, temperature requirements, and delivery timelines.
The team collaborated with railway authorities and other departments to optimize route planning, port docking procedures, and customs clearance efficiency. They upgraded the freight train's "one-stop" service and innovatively integrated a multimodal transport model combining "short-distance road collection + mainline railway transportation + ocean port."
By consolidating road-rail and rail-sea resources, the freight train achieves efficient connectivity from Yanji to Dalian Port, significantly improving transport efficiency while reducing logistics costs compared to traditional road transport. This provides substantial support for reducing burdens and increasing efficiency for enterprises.
Moving forward, Dalian Container Shipping will adjust service frequency based on market demand, continuously improving the service chain to help build a "golden channel" for distributing Northeast China's specialty products and injecting sustained momentum into high-quality regional economic development.
Successful Transit of Vietnamese Cold Containers via Qinzhou
Recently, cold containers carrying frozen golden threadfish surimi departed from Da Nang, Vietnam, and successfully transited via Yangpu Xiaochantan to Qinzhou.
Since the beginning of this year, the volume of imported transit goods at Xiaochantan has gradually increased, and COSCO SHIPPING Ports' Hainan Container Shipping and South China Container Shipping have developed increasingly mature experience in handling transit operations.
Against this backdrop, COSCO's Vietnam branch proposed that local customers needed to ship cold containers to Qinzhou but required the goods to be transferred within seven days of arrival at Xiaochantan. After calculating previous sailing schedules and operational timelines, Hainan Container Shipping confirmed feasibility.
Three days before the goods arrived at Xiaochantan, through multi-party collaboration, customs clearance procedures were completed immediately after the goods were unloaded at Yangpu, ensuring the containers were loaded onto the vessel within the customer's stipulated timeframe for onward shipment to Qinzhou.
As the free trade port continues to develop, transit and international transshipment goods are expected to increase further. Hainan Container Shipping will continue to enhance efficiency and optimize service quality to provide global customers with efficient and stable transit services.
Looking ahead, COSCO SHIPPING Ports stated that it will leverage digital intelligence applications and improve global resource integration capabilities to actively explore more innovative transportation solutions. The company aims to provide safe and reliable services while supporting sustainable regional economic development.
