Recently, the COSCO Santos, loaded with seafood, chemicals, and transshipment cargo from Southeast and South Asia, departed from Yangpu International Container Terminal bound for the Port of Seattle, USA. This not only marks the official launch of COSCO Shipping Lines' CPV service but also represents the first Far East–US Northwest/Canada route opened at Yangpu Port within the Hainan Free Trade Zone.
Significance of the CPV Route Launch
Unlocking Cross-Border Connectivity & Expanding Trade Service Reach
The route enables direct shipping between Yangpu and the Port of Vancouver (Canada) and the Port of Seattle (USA). Leveraging North American inland intermodal networks, cargo can reach inland markets across the US and Canada. Benefiting from the unique advantage of 12 Asian regional feeder services calling at Yangpu Port under COSCO Shipping, the CPV route significantly broadens service paths from Southeast Asia to the US Northwest/Canada, greatly enhancing cargo delivery capacity and service stability. For shippers in Hainan and Southeast Asia, the CPV route cuts transit times by 7–10 days compared to existing routes, reducing logistics costs for businesses.
Deepening Interconnectivity & Strengthening Cross-Border Trade Links
The service further strengthens trade ties between China, the US, and Canada in agricultural products, industrial goods, and consumer goods, boosting supply chain resilience. It increases the diversity of logistics services, offering shippers an efficient, fast new option to support sustained growth in Hainan’s exports to the Americas. Additionally, it builds a new bridge for economic and trade exchanges between Southeast Asia and North America.
