CMA CGM Group and the Port of Koper have established a joint venture in automotive logistics, dedicated to vehicle import and export logistics services.

On October 20, CMA CGM Group announced that it had signed an agreement with the Port of Koper—the largest port in Slovenia—to establish a joint venture in automotive logistics. According to the agreement, the new company will focus on vehicle import and export logistics services.

It is reported that the Port of Koper is a key port in the Adriatic Sea region and a strategic gateway to the Central European market.

Recently, Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob, French President Emmanuel Macron, and CMA CGM Group’s Chairman and CEO Rodolphe Saadé visited the Port of Koper together. The visit aimed to deepen the strategic partnership between France and Slovenia and promote the development of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).

CMA CGM stated that by expanding its business layout at the Port of Koper, the company is further strengthening its strategic investment in the Central European market. All routes operated by CMA CGM from the Port of Koper are served by LNG or methanol-powered vessels with a capacity of 15,000 TEUs. Complemented by a railway network connecting major Central European markets, these routes can provide customers with efficient, reliable, low-carbon, and environmentally friendly transportation solutions.

It is understood that CMA CGM has been deeply rooted in the Slovenian market for more than 20 years, employing 102 local employees, operating 2 direct routes weekly, and providing maritime services, logistics services, and multimodal transportation solutions.

The establishment of this automotive logistics joint venture marks the comprehensive upgrade of the cooperative relationship between the two parties.

CMA CGM stated that it will work with the Port of Koper to strengthen Slovenia’s position as a core logistics hub in Europe. The two parties will not only deepen cooperation in logistics business but also explore more collaborations to enhance the competitive advantages of the Port of Koper and support regional trade development.
